Iranian Revolution

It seems as though the Iranian people lead a revolution against an oppressive leader only to see that one of their greatest supporters was only trying t enforce his own opinion as law. Ayahtolla drove out the Shaw only to become an unquestionable religious leader and separate schools, put veils on all women (and take away their rights) and turn the constitution of Islamic religion into law for Iran. these people cannot catch a break.

Dust Bowl Experience

BLAGH! PHATU! GAG! ... Sorry... dust.

There's dang ol' dust up to the roof! Billy Bob done busted his leg tryin' to ski off the roof. I'd tell ya' there's no crop left alive but... I can't see the ground. Even indoors, it's all over like a cat in a microwave! I had ta wrap this here screen in Seran Wrap to see it.

I bought a car just a while before the dust bowl came, hot pink (don't judge me!) and the dust stripped away all that paint! Every day, it seems, there's a black cloud closin' in on us and all that light just blows out when the dust comes, just like all the wheat.

They promised us a land of prosperity. I used to have acres of wheat, I was makin' record crop this season... bu one day the rain just stopped comin'... it got oddly hot and I was just thinkin' "At least we got the sunshine. But that didn't last neither.

The dust got through every crack in the house, it would get into our food and we'd just be tastin' dust. And one day, we actually just ate a big plate o' dust.

Midfulness and Perspective

Mindfulness- Consideration of the affects of your actions upon others.
Perspective- A different point of view.

Mindfulness is important because if we were to all act senselessly with no thought of our affects to others (which most of us already do) then we would never accomplish anything and most of us would just end up getting hurt. Think before you act and the whole world will prosper.

All people of the world see the world from a different point of view. Some of us are optimistic, some are negative, some rich, some poor. The world is not just bland black and white because we all see it a different way. The world is always changing and so is our view. Be willing to see new things and try to see things from other people's point of view.

Wonder & Evidence

Two habits of the human mind, rudimentary to our way of life. Wonder- to imagine. If we were never to wonder, then the most imaginative minds in history would never turn their thoughts into inventions such as the airplane and the car and the computer. If we never wondered, it would be a wonder that we were still around.

Evidence- proof, items to prove a point. Without evidence, no true story would be proven, no one would believe one another. And probably the most important, our legal system would crumble.

These things are the cornerstones of the human mind and therefore, the cornerstones of our way of life.

Goals for the new semester

1. Stay on top of homework. It's what got me an A last semester. Staying alert and remembering your assignments and their due dates is an ingredient for success. I want to find out due dates as soon as possible in order to complete them. Having a completed assignment in the hanger is much simpler then spazzing out in order to finish it at the last second.

2. Take a head start whenever I can. If a weekly assignment (ex. algebra chapter) is not assigned for the the week, I want to get started on it on that week and possibly have that affect my rate of completion for the whole semester. In the past, the lazy side of me has decided to take advantage of the week and put it off. That must change.

3. Come to finals with a solid knowledge of the material. I may have scored an A in Mysics and an A+ in Humanities if I had begun studying the material sooner. In my past, math was always my weekest subject and, last year, even landed me in summer school. To have a grade in that subject I can truly be proud of, not just squeak by, but be proud of, would be my biggest goal.
